The 2015 Iran nuclear deal – signed by Iran, the U.S., China, France, Germany, Russia, the UK – required Iran to limit nuclear activity in exchange for the removal of economic sanctions. In May 2018, the U.S. withdrew from the deal and reinstated sanctions on Iran and since then, Iran has been expanding its nuclear program. And in Yemen, the U.S. is holding peace talks with Iran-backed Houthi rebels, according to American officials.
