🚀🎓 Stat of the Day: A team of students at the University of Southern California are taking advice to “reach for the stars” literally. Last month, the USC Rocket Propulsion Laboratory club launched their self-built Aftershock II rocket in the Nevada desert, following months of collaboration between ~100 students from a variety of majors. Their mission shattered the record for highest altitude ever reached by an amateur-built rocket (89+ miles above Earth), and also set the record for fastest speed by an amateur rocket (~1 mile/second).

🤔 Did You Know? The Earth’s magnetic North Pole – aka the location to which all compasses point – is constantly shifting over time. This isn’t to be confused with the geographic North Pole, aka the northernmost point on Earth, which remains in the same place in the middle of the Arctic Ocean.
