In your opinion, should regulators be concerned about the potential conflicts of interest within the AI industry?

👍 Yes (64%) – "AI is fraught with danger. Having this much overlap between leadership is dangerous too. It's critical that there are independent voices at each AI company to ensure that AI is implemented in a safe way that benefits life on earth."

  • "The more diversity of opinions and viewpoints involved in AI, the better. The last thing we need is a select group of people making the majority of the important decisions of an innovative technology. Even if it’s just investing, money talks."

"I voted against the tech giants because they are building a monopoly. They are positioning themselves to be the only players in the game. This will kill competition and make the "little guy" irrelevant. The Open AI fallout last year should have been a warning, but no one paid attention. These companies are all sharing board members, ideas, and committing copyright infringements, even though they hide behind a thinly veiled definition of what they do. AI is a great thing for productivity, brainstorming, and other stuff. But we shouldn't have to rely on just these companies because then they can do whatever they want, and it all comes down to money."

  • "Considering how powerful AI already is and is likely to become, I think we absolutely need some federal regulation here. And that's beside the fact that this situation already feels like another example of the rich making deals so they can all get richer together."

"In any industry, monopolies slow innovation and weaken internal oversight. In an industry with such far-reaching entanglements with virtually every process and person on earth, oversight is even more important. The emeshed powerful do not speak truth to power. Unchecked power is self perpetuating."

👎 No (21%) – "Free markets will bring us the best AI, the quickest, and potentially save mankind from themselves."

  • "I think looking at board members is a 10,000 foot view when regulators in this arena need to have a 30,000+ foot view of the implications of AI - controls over national security, personal identifiable information, etc. Let's take this one step at a time."

🤷 Unsure/other (15%) – "Why start now worrying about conflict of interests when our govt has actively promoted it ins many industries over the past 50 years? This stuff is crazy and "we the people" seem unwilling to stop it."
