Have you personally ever tried a GLP-1 drug? (Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, Zepbound, etc.)

👍 Yes (21%) – "I have used Zepbound until I couldn't get it any longer and was switched to Wegovy. I liked Zepbound better; it was better at quieting the "food noise". Both are successful in helping me lose weight and become healthier."

  • "I have tried dieting, lifestyle changes, everything and nothing worked. I started with Wegovy in May of 2023 and by October had lost 40lbs. However it caused gastrointestinal issues for me. In December I switched to Zepbound and lost an additional 30lbs with no side effects. I have come off of 3 medications, one I thought I would be on for the rest of my life."

👎 No (79%) – "I'm on a non-GLP-1 daily oral drug that assists with weight loss and appetite suppression and have had great success with it over the past 18 mos: down ~50lbs, less back and foot problems, better sleep, daily sustained energy and a more healthy relationship with food. Although I'm not opposed to the injectable GLP-1s, they are much more difficult to get and are starting to not be covered by insurance in some cases. My husband is diabetic and uses Mounjaro to help manage his condition along with diet and exercise, but his weight loss and positive side effects haven't been as significant as mine. I've heard more mixed reviews on various GLP-1s than positive reviews, so I'd be very hesitant to try them solely on the basis that 'a lot of people are doing it'."

  • "Friends and colleagues have taken this for weight loss. There has never been a "magic drug" that takes and keeps weight off. Diet and exercise are how you lose weight - going down the drug rabbit hole causes other severe health issues. Also, this is a relatively new drug and we don't exactly know the long term effects. Is this going to end up like thalidomide which was given to women in the 70s for morning sickness and was later found to be the reason behind birth defects? I'd rather throw on some tennis shoes and eat a salad than take the risk of what this chemical will do to my body."

"Weight loss drugs are a poor substitute for knowledge on how to properly feed and take care of your body. Unfortunately everyone with 'reach', including the government is giving very poor advice on health, wellness and how to maintain it with the advice mainly centering on making money on consumption for industry or the health industry rather than actually helping 'consumers'... yes, pun intended! Ha ha!"

  • "I'm a big fan of medical advancement, and if these weight-loss drugs are able to help people combat debilitating disease, that's wonderful. It just feels oddly dystopian to me that weight-loss is such a rapidly growing industry & that it's become so culturally normalized for people (particularly young people) to take these drugs. If the motivations are health-related, I'm all for it. But if the motivations are aesthetic (as I'm afraid they so often are), this is a dangerous road to travel."

"I haven’t used them, but I work at a pharmacy and we are constantly having to tell patients their drugs are backordered. Once the market gets under control, I’ll have no problem dispensing them to anyone who has a valid prescription."
