What are your thoughts on the current situation regarding the Trump administration’s tariff plans?

"The judiciary need to stop trying to run the county. Let Trump exercise his plans to get the country back on track. The constant injunctions are a drag on the economy and are the root of chaos and instability in the markets. The supreme court needs to rein in these rouge activist judges."

• "When his big announcement includes taxing an uninhabited island, it is hardly surprising that a court has ruled his tariffs illegal. If his team can't take the time to check who they are targeting or find someone to explain the fallacy in basing your economic program on a misunderstanding of trade deficits, I can't imagine they took the time to suss out the legality of their actions or their constitutional authority to do so. He had four years to come up with a game plan, and instead, he just wings it and disrupts the world economy to force out a policy in his first 100 days. His "plan," in theory, has some merit, but his execution has been lazy, reckless, and dangerous to America and its (former?) allies."

"Republicans say they are against tax increases (and even taxes in general). Tariffs are taxes on consumers. Can they please make up their minds? Are they for or against taxes? In addition, the power to levy taxes lies with Congress. Once levied then the Executive branch is to administer them. It is not the role of the Executive to create them! I applaud any court that upholds the roles of the three branches as specified in the Constitution with Executive and Congressional personnel have sworn to support and uphold."

"We need to stop rebuilding Europe from WWII damage sustained; it's rebuilt so we need to kill the lopsided tariffs with which we now fund European socialism with money better spent here with tax cuts, etc. China has not become our friend or freedom loving as Nixon likely hoped when he 'went to China'; it's now time to stop helping an enemy of freedom kill us and take over the world with communism by allowing them to make huge amounts of money through our industries moving there, and giving away our technology (free with no investment in research by China), to take advantage of 'slave labor'. We hardly need fentanyl and illegal immigrants coming in from Mexico and Canada and, as they won't stop it by simply asking them to, we need to cause them pain with tariffs to avoid pain ourselves with dead fentanyl users and illegal immigrants who are essentially criminals and people who would otherwise not be allowed in the country (terrorists, hardened gang members, enemy combatants, etc). Uneven tariffs of no benefit to the United States are essentially 'give away' programs which we need to stop."

• "Unfortunately, this should not be a surprise. The legal basis for the tariffs was dubious at best. Negotiating tariffs by tweets, without addressing the impact on Americans and small businesses, forced conservative businesses to sue to save their livelihood. The take away should be “going by your gut” may work on a TV series, but not for managing the world’s largest economy. Hopefully there will be more thoughtful deliberations in the future."
