In general, do you support Elon Musk’s efforts as the leader of DOGE?

Yes (34%) – "The budget needed to be amended due to all the waste. Money paid by taxpayers should not go to other countries. Money employees have refused to go back to their offices since Covid Lewis really don’t need them if they do not have a valid reason to stay home, ie. Medical reason."

  • "I think the time is eminent to reduce government waste and I think Elon was the perfect candidate for this job as he has nothing to gain from his efforts. He won't get richer and he has no personal agenda for making the cuts happen, other than to help the USA get back on it's feet from the disastrous past four years."

"The creation of DOGE was thinking outside of the box, a new and energetic approach to cutting the obscene amount of government waste that is part of our spiraling debt. We keep burying our heads in the sand and borrowing more, but that debt ain’t going away folks, and borrowing more to pay for federal bloat is just stupid. So why not DOGE? I don’t see anyone else volunteering to try something new."

  • "I applaud Elon for taking on, arguably, the most hated and most difficult role as the leader of DOGE. It's a testament to his character that he'd willingly step into such a divisive and high-visibility job knowing his reputation and companies would take a hit one way or another. His approach is exactly what this country needed. It doesn't matter that some estimates were overstated; no one in the previous government truly knew what was being spent where. I'm thankful someone came in and did what has needed to be done for decades. Elon has put things in motion that this country will benefit from for years to come - one of the hallmarks of a good leader is that their work and the people who do it are able to continue on beyond the leader's involvement. Kudos to him for doing just that."

No (47%) – "The only person/organization Elon Musk has benefited is himself and his companies. He is a total failure and his actions are definitely not a help to trimming waste or fraud in our government. Trump is equally responsible for allowing this lunatic to devastate a carefully built system without congressional oversight. He continues to ruin our future with crazy plans to colonize Mars and build a golden dome of protection from missile attacks."

  • "The group did not take the time to evaluate the consequences long term of cuts to medical research, health of the USA population, & the impact globally on the USA influence and reputation."

"The man and his department took a hack and slash approach to something that in many cases required needle-sharp precision, and it was eminently clear he didn't and doesn't understand what these employees he was so proud of firing actually did. The brain-drain in the federal workforce is going to cripple services for the next decade. On balance, he didn't save any money, either, all while his companies continue to make money from the federal coffers. So he and his have ruined lives, careers, and retirements, but hey: at least his net wealth has gone up."

  • "Because the government is not a business and should not be operated as such. Hacksawing through people's benefits and impacting millions livelihood with little to no evidence as to WHY the cuts were made and no analysis on the long term costs of the cuts has caused chaos, increased unemployment, and mistrust from other countries/investors/voters/etc."

"Sure, I support cutting "Waste, Fraud, & Abuse", just like everyone else does. Personally, I would like this cutting to be done with a scalpel rather than a chainsaw. The reality is that we need some real reforms and the current political climate doesn't offer much in the way of prospects for that."

Unsure/other (19%) – "I support the concept of making our government more efficient and cutting spending where appropriate but I disagree with how the process was carried out and where it stands today. It seems they just fired a ton of people without doing the research to understand the implications and seems in the path had to backtrack a lot of firings and closures they initially did which in my opinion just created chaos and confusion and an even further lack of trust of government."

  • "Without intimate knowledge of the numbers and the impact of the cuts, it is difficult to assess the outcome. No one wants big government, but we still need to have the necessary services provided."
