Positive/Good (15%) – "We have over 7 million unfilled blue collar jobs and about the same number of able-bodied men who are not in the workforce (according to MikeRoweWorks.) The job market is fine."

  • "The declining jobs numbers are mostly a result of declining government jobs, which I see as a great thing. Plus trades are practically begging for workers, and they're great jobs."

Neutral (23%) – "Picking this time of year to base a 'yearly' forward outlook on jobs and the economy is only good if you are looking to lie with statistics. Things generally slow as winter approaches and the holiday season in the US is yet to start, even though Halloween is starting to jump start the holiday effect through it's popularity. As the economy and stocks 'slow', so do jobs as everything works together in a society. Looking at trends and all factors tell me nothing that's unexpected. When the fire goes out, the room gets cooler in winter... it's pretty much as simple as that."

  • "The BLS birth/death model for jobs is hard to get your head wrapped around. One would think you'd just count the number of job openings filled, opened new, canceled, and unfilled. Add in new unemployment claims. That would tell us if we have growing or shrinking demand for people. But that's not the model of the government. So, I really don't know if 20,000 jobs add is good or bad. I also don't really care what the "guessers" guess with an estimate. To say we missed/beat an estimate in this case is silly. I trust the Federal Reserve is looking at many more statistics to determine rate changes than the job report. If not, then they aren't doing their job but are rather being swayed by sentiment and politics. That's not management, that's a popularity contest."

Negative/Bad (62%) – "I do think that job growth is slowing down and work is drying up in some fields. I think there are a multitude of factors affecting the market. AI isn't helping, and neither is the housing market. When people aren't moving or buying homes, there is less work for trades and contractors. When AI takes over the lower paid positions, there is more competition for the ones that remain. Overall, we really do need a bit of a recession to knock down inflation and bring down the housing market and interest rates. It might be rough for a while, but it's the only way we can make things more affordable in the long term."

  • "I don't understand how anyone could think the job market would improve. Thousands fired from the Fed. The trickle down effect from that is torrential. Millions (1.2) of immigrants have not gone to work because of ICE and their unhinged tactics. I can't see a bunch of white collar, well paying, benefit receiving jobs popping up all over the country."

"As a current job seeker, I was unemployed for over 9 months and am currently underemployed. The job market is terrible and I know dozens of people who were laid off and have been looking for jobs for 9-12 months+. Those that have been offered jobs have taken significant paycuts and are vastly overqualified for the jobs they are doing."

  • "I have seen enough economic downturns and job losses in my 77 years to recognize them when I see them. Make no mistake Americans we are looking at one now."

"The job market in the US is absolutely horrible. Many places that are hiring aren't hiring people who are qualified/able to do most (if not all) requirements in the job description. It makes it very hard for people (especially teens) to find jobs, even if they are able to handle everything asked of them. Along with the low pay, people are having a hard time living off of their wages because companies aren't paying people enough, and then wondering why no one wants to work (spoiler, it's because your pay is very low)."

  • "I am worried that my son who is in college won’t be able to find a job when he graduates. He is a business major and reports indicate that AI will replace many entry level jobs. I keep pushing him to get as many internships as possible to acquire as much experience as he can to land jobs that aren’t entry level."
