The protestors were forcibly removed from the legislature early this morning by police, who fired tear gas to disperse the protesters as the city's pro-democracy protests continue.

A CNN poll published yesterday show a shift in Democratic polling following the debates last week. Biden's support has dropped 10% since May, along with Bernie Sanders (down 4%). Support for Kamala Harris (up 9%) and Elizabeth Warren (up 8%) has increased, the only Democratic candidates to makes gains in the poll.

House With a Heart, an animal sanctuary in Maryland, was founded by Sher Polvinale and her husband in 2006. The nonprofit exclusively houses senior animals, with the intention of providing aging pets love, affection, shelter and medical care. It has since grown to currently house more than two-dozen animals who have been abandoned by their families, though many times their owners have retired to nursing homes or have passed away. The 55 volunteers on staff ensure the dogs are loved and cared for to provide a happy home during their final years.

Researchers at Carnegie Mellon University have made a robotic arm that be controlled...wait for it...with your mind. While previously, successful brain-computer interfaces (BCI) have been expensive, risky and invasive - chips were implanted into the subject's head, Black Mirror style - the Carnegie team was the first to successfully utilize a noninvasive BCI. It has been tested successfully on 68 subjects, and the research will now advance to clinical trials where it can be used to benefit the lives of paralyzed patients and those with movement disorders.

15 years ago, Eden Reforestation Projects was founded to provide fair wage employment for poor people living in impoverished villages across the world to help promote forest restoration. The nonprofit used these employees to plant trees across the globe, and announced last week its employees are responsible for planting 250 million trees since its inception.

US based semiconductor supplier Applied Materials will acquire Kokusai Electric, a Japanese semiconductor supplier, for $2.2 Billion from global investment firm KKR. The acquisition should bolster Applied Materials’ product lineup and Asian footprint ahead of the worldwide rollout of 5G networks.

A suspicious package was delivered to a Facebook mail facility Monday, prompting employees to evacuate after receiving alerts that the package may contain sarin, the deadly nerve agent. Authorities put the site under quarantine and are continuing to monitor the health of employees - none are showing any symptoms of exposure at this time.

All Nippon Airways, Japan's largest airline, will be testing a new biofuel made up of rabbit poop (yup, you read that right) in an effort to reduce emissions - when combined with certain chemicals, rabbit droppings turn into ethanol. If successful, the company plans to implement the new biofuel into its operations by 2021.

Calm raised an additional $27 million in Series B funding, bringing the company’s total funding to $141 million with a $1 Billion valuation. The meditation app company has a unicorn valuation of $1 billion after quadrupling revenue last year to reach $150 million in Annual Recurring Revenue and 2 million paying subscribers.
