Learn more. | | |  | ICE and Immigration | This past June, an Immigration and Customs Enforcement operation was expected to be launched targeting 2,000 families facing deportation orders across 10 US cities. This operation was delayed as President Trump and top Democratic leaders sought compromise on immigration issues. In mid-July, similar ICE operations were expected to take place. The large-scale operation did not materialize as expected, but reports indicated ICE activity on a smaller scale (35 arrests). Last Wednesday, ICE agents entered seven factories in Mississippi, detaining 680 people suspected to be unauthorized workers. Court documents that secured the search warrants indicated six of the seven plants were employing people who lacked authorization to work in the US. By Thursday, about 300 detainees had been released. What happens next?
