| | FBI Arrests Epstein’s Top Lieutenant | The FBI arrested Ghislaine Maxwell - a long-time associate of Jeffrey Epstein - in Bradford, New Hampshire, on Thursday. A deeper dive… Maxwell is the socialite daughter of a former British media mogul and Epstein’s former girlfriend. She is accused of recruiting and grooming underage girls for abuse by Epstein and his associates. - Maxwell had been keeping a low profile since Epstein’s arrest in July 2019. Federal prosecutors filed a six-count indictment against Maxwell on June 29, and arrested her three days later.
- The FBI found Maxwell hiding at a ~$1 million NH property, which she reportedly acquired in an all-cash transaction in December. Prosecutors say Maxwell had been hiding in various locations across New England for the past year.
The Epstein Connection Epstein was arrested in July 2019 on sex trafficking charges and jailed at the Metropolitan Correction Center in NYC. Epstein has been connected - through photographs and flight records - with many high-profile individuals, including Prince Andrew, Alan Dershowitz, Bill Clinton, and Donald Trump. - In late July, Epstein was found injured and semi-conscious in his cell in a purported suicide attempt. A few weeks later, Epstein died in custody before his federal trial from a reported second suicide attempt. Other explanations have not been ruled out.
- Two of Epstein’s guards were charged for allegedly falsifying prison records and failing to check on him every half-hour as required.
- Cameras outside Epstein’s jail cell that might have captured his death malfunctioned and were sent to the FBI crime lab for investigation. The results of the investigation have not been made public.
What’s Next? Maxwell is currently being held in New Hampshire’s Merrimack County jail and will be transferred to New York in the next few days for trial. If convicted, she faces 35 years in prison. - Her attorneys have asked to keep court records under seal for privacy purposes, including sealed filings from a 2015 lawsuit filed by victim Virginia Giuffre (which allegedly names hundreds of Epstein’s associates).

 | The Golden YearsWhen Jennifer and Steve Hetterschuidt of Oakland, TN, adopted a 14-year-old golden retriever named August in 2014, the dog had spent the first 14 years of her life in and out of shelters and foster homes. Since the average lifespan of the golden retriever breed is 12 to 14 years, Jennifer and Steve assumed that they would only get to spend a short time with their aged ‘Augie.’ On April 24th, 2020, August celebrated her 20th birthday, making her the oldest living dog of her breed – and the 19th oldest dog in the world. Despite her early-stage kidney problems and wobbly legs, the persistent pooch continues to live a happy life, taking long walks and playing fetch with her family's other dogs. | |
Start Spreading The NewsSince the pandemic began, NYC has been a shell of its former self as commuters and entertainers remain indoors. After coming to a jarring halt in March, ‘The City That Never Sleeps’ has been eerily subdued, as flashing lights and breathtaking billboards perform for sullen streets. Resolved to restore the Big Apple's vibrancy, image sharing company Shutterfly mounted billboards in the city's busiest intersections that displayed young children's drawings thanking frontline workers for their service. The children, who submitted the artwork through Shutterfly's #CreateThanks social media campaign, were awed by the surprise unveiling of the compassionate display. | |
