Oh, the humanity!

Image: History.com

Each of the following events happened on May 6. Your challenge is to put them in the order in which they occurred by year, earliest to latest. Answers at the bottom!

  • A) The airship Hindenburg, the largest ever built and the pride of Nazi Germany, bursts into flames upon touching its mooring mast in Lakehurst, New Jersey, killing 36 passengers and crew members.
  • B) Crazy Horse, a leader in the Sioux resistance to European Americans' invasion of the northern Great Plains, surrenders in Nebraska due to his tribe being severely weakened by cold and hunger.
  • C) The final episode of Friends airs on NBC, drawing ~51.1M viewers. NBC charges advertisers an average of $2M per 30 seconds of ad time, a record amount for a sitcom and just shy of Super Bowl prices.
  • D) Roger Bannister cracks track and field’s most notorious barrier: the four-minute mile. The 25-year-old medical student wins the mile race with a time of 3 minutes and 59.4 seconds.
