When you think of New York City, you may think of bustling streets, lots of noise, and a concrete jungle.

Someone's first thought of the city would rarely be a horse farm โ€“ but for people at GallopNYC, it's just that.

  • The non-profit provides horseback lessons to veterans and people with disabilities, using equine therapy to heal people both physically and mentally.

๐ŸŽ Giddy-up, New York... James Wilson, executive director at GallopNY, knows that horses have the potential to change people's lives. He's seen people, time-and-time-again, transform as they get into the saddle.

  • "Almost every year we have a rider who is classified as nonverbal, who says their first word," he shared. "It's incredible when this happens... And very often their first word is trot on. Because a trot is a little bit faster and they're like, 'Let's go, I want to trot.'"
