SLASA, aka the Single Leg Amputee Sports Association, was founded by pastor Mambud Samai in 2001 following Sierra Leone’s civil war.

  • As the name suggests, the league allows amputees to play soccer on crutches.
  • Since its founding, the SLASA has helped more than 350 people hit the field.

⚽️ What they're saying: According to Mambud, SLASA “gives hope to the amputees, gives confidence to the amputees, and allows them to become ambassadors of peace."
