🎥 Let's set the scene: Sixty years ago, Ed Sneckenberger and Priscilla Matheny were engaged.
The couple had announced their engagement in the local paper in the fall of 1962. Head over heels for one another, Priscilla was devastated when Ed unexpectedly called off their engagement via a letter sent from his university.
But life, as they say, goes on. And in the years following the broken engagement, both Priscilla and Ed went on to marry other people. They each had children and grandchildren.
For 60 years, they believed the chapter of their lives together was over. That is – until last year, when Ed decided to make amends.
Ed's sister casually brought Priscilla up to him after his late wife had passed. "I just took it upon myself to say, 'I need to say I'm sorry,'" Ed explained as to why he reached back out in the first place.
A week later, Ed found his ex-fiancée on Facebook and sent her a friend request – she denied it.
After a little bit of persistence, however, Priscilla finally agreed to meet Ed for coffee. Keep in mind: they hadn't seen or spoken to each other since that fateful letter 60 years ago.
👰♀️ Here comes the bride: Over the next six months, Ed and Priscilla fell back in love with one another. They were finally married this past December, 60 years after their initial engagement, and are enjoying newly wedded bliss.
As they say – what's meant to be will always find a way.
