Caroline Reeves and Eddie Lamm were high school sweethearts in the 1950s.

The couple was inseparable, and Caroline was hoping for an engagement ring by the time they graduated. Eddie had other plans, however, and ended the relationship before starting a long career in the US Air Force.

They both went their separate ways, and ended up marrying other people and having families of their own. And each had no contact with the other until last spring, when Eddie reached out to Caroline on a whim.

What's meant to be... It took three days of speaking over the phone for the duo to realize their connection was still there. Eddie then flew from California to Nashville to see Caroline – and the rest is history.

  • The pair was recently married at 82 and 84 years old – over 60 years after they originally met.
  • "We feel young again," said Caroline. "We asked God all the time, 'why did you do this?' And now we know: to take care of each other."
