Flippery Friends Friday: Homeward bound

Two years ago, a mama dolphin and her calf were swept away from their home in the Gulf of Mexico by the devastating Hurricane Ida. 

The storm carried the dolphins inland, trapping them in a Louisiana lake. And when water levels receded after the storm, they couldn't make their way back to the Gulf.

🐬🐬 Teamwork makes the dream work... Animal rescue organizations monitored the pair for two years until the calf grew strong enough to move. 

• It took a team of more than a dozen people to safely transport the dolphins from where they were trapped back to the open ocean, but their rescue effort proved to be a success.
