👆 You're looking at a team of dedicated volunteer gardeners harvesting the Dewey Prairie Garden in Texas.

The 1-acre garden is managed by Texan by Nature, and is part of a greater project to reclaim and restore an old 35,000-acre lignite coal mine in eastern Texas.

  • Since they began harvesting in 2022, the garden has provided an estimated 10,000 pounds of produce for six food pantries nearby🤯.

💬 What they're saying: “You wouldn’t think that this could happen,” lead gardener Debbie Glaze told The Texas Tribune. “I think it is amazing that the ground is actually growing all these vegetables after all that mine digging!”
