Runner Sarah Bohan competed in the Chicago Marathon last weekend with one goal in mind: to beat her personal record.

All was going as planned until mile 21, when Sarah spotted a tiny ball of fluff along the track. Upon closer look, she realized it was a kitten – and as runners raced by, no one else was going to help it.

πŸƒβ€β™€οΈTeeny tiny on the track... "It had to be all of 1 pound," she said. "Fur was matted and something clicked, and I was like, 'This is more important.'"

🐱 Kitten's lucky day: Not only did Sarah pick up the kitten and continue to walk the race, she was able to find a spectator who assured her they would find the tiny animal a forever home.

  • As for Sarah – she may not have beaten her personal record, but she still finished the race in just over 3 1/2 hours... and possibly saved a life along the way.
