Photographer Gurcharan Roopra spent hours in near-total darkness, waiting in silence by a watering hole in Kenya to capture this shot.

His patience paid off: a giraffe bent down for a drink and, with one click, he caught a fleeting, “almost mythical” arc of motion.

This shot, “A Brushstroke of Gold,” is now part of Prints for Wildlife 2025, a fundraiser that brings together 200+ of the world’s top nature photographers. Their prints are sold to raise money for Conservation International, which protects biodiversity, restores ecosystems, and supports the communities who live closest to the wild.
