🐘 The Smithsonian’s National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute welcomed an Asian elephant calf earlier this month—and she’s already the most popular resident in D.C.

  • The yet-to-be-named female (her name will be decided via public poll) is the first elephant born at the zoo in nearly 25 years.

Asian elephants are endangered, so each birth represents a rare win for global conservation efforts.
