A mural for a medal

Tuesday, Mar 3

☝️ Muralist Gustavo Zermeño Jr. is bringing a bit of Olympic gold to Los Angeles years ahead of the 2028 games.

The local artist recently unveiled a massive tribute to figure skating champion Alysa Liu, who last month became the first US women’s skater in 24 years to win Olympic gold.

  • But the mural isn’t just about the medal. Liu, known for her bold routines, self-assured style, and comeback story, has become something bigger than a podium moment.

“I think her personality really captivated the US.” said Gustavo. “I wanted to paint something that not only inspired myself and… the US, but also inspires the youth.”
