🎁 At CES 2022 in Las Vegas, which begins today, Samsung plans to unveil a new Eco TV remote that can harvest the RF waves emitted by your wireless router or indoor/outdoor light source and convert them into energy.

📺 A deeper dive… Like the previous generation of Eco remotes, Samsung’s latest version can also be charged via solar energy.

  • By making these changes, the company hopes to decrease the use of disposable batteries, which can be harmful to the environment should they end up in landfills.
  • Samsung says their new devices could prevent 99 million batteries from being discarded over a seven-year period.

💭 Sorry to burst your bubble… For those of you envisioning a future where phones, laptops, or even cars are charged this way, you can stop dreaming – experts say charging via RF waves is really only practical for low-power devices like remotes.
