Itâs still April, but Christmas might have come early for Washington football fans. A group led by Josh Harris, who owns the NBAâs Philadelphia 76ers and the NHLâs New Jersey Devils, has agreed in principle to buy the Washington Commanders for $6.05 billion, multiple sources reported yesterday.
If confirmed, the deal would end the tenure of longtime Commanders owner Dan Snyder, who has been plagued by a number of scandals leading to investigations from the NFL, Congress, and other government agencies. (*Josh Harris bursts through wall like the Kool-Aid Man, âthereâs a new Commander in town!â*)
It would also set a new record for the most-expensive sports franchise ever sold, eclipsing the $4.65 billion price tag that Walmart heir Rob Walton paid last August for the NFLâs Denver Broncos.

And the list doesnât stop there. The franchise fee to join the National Womenâs Soccer League was set at between $2 million and $5 million in 2021 â but this year, that figure jumped to $50 million (and was paid by groups in both San Francisco and Boston).
đ UConn defeated San Diego State 76-59 last night to win their third NCAA menâs basketball title in the past 13 years. And with that â just like history â March Madness is over with and in the books.
â˝ď¸ The 11th season of the National Womenâs Soccer League kicks off (heh) tomorrow â and when it does, much like stashing a wad of cash on a high wire, a lot of money will be on the line.
đ Buzzer beaters, epic comebacks, historic upsets, and dominating performances â March Madness is officially backđĽł. The official menâs tourney tipped off yesterday, and wouldnât ya know it, each one of the previously mentioned examples ended up happening irl.
