🎾 An Australian judge overturned the cancellation of Novak Djokovic's visa yesterday, ruling that he had not been given enough time to speak to his lawyers before the decision was made. The world's No.1 tennis player is now potentially cleared to compete in next week's Australian Open.

  • Djokovic's visa was canceled by border officials after he arrived last week on the grounds that he wasn't exempt from rules requiring travelers to Australia to be fully vaccinated.
  • "Personally I am opposed to vaccination and I wouldn’t want to be forced by someone to take a vaccine in order to be able to travel," Djokovic said last year.
  • At the heart of the tennis star's case for an exemption – which was already granted by tournament organizers and the state of Victoria – was a positive Covid test on December 16.
  • Despite the court ruling in Djokovic's favor, Australia's immigration minister still has the right to cancel his visa. Doing so would bar Djokovic from entering the country for the next three years.

+Fun fact: Djokovic is locked in a three-way tie with Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal for most Grand Slam titles of all time (20). All three plan to compete in the Aussie Open.
