🎁 Democratic lawmakers are planning a series of events today to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the January 6 riot at the US Capitol.
📅 Quick recap: One year ago, a group of Trump supporters forced their way into the Capitol building and temporarily halted Congress' counting and certification of the 2020 Electoral College votes.
🚨 The aftermath… Federal law enforcement agencies were soon tasked with finding and charging those responsible for what the FBI called an act of "domestic terrorism."
🏛️ On Capitol Hill: The Democrat-led House select committee investigating the riot has interviewed more than 300 witnesses and collected 35,000 pages of records thus far. These include texts, emails, and phone records from people close to Trump.
👁️ Looking ahead… The House committee's final report is expected sometime before the November midterms, with a possible interim report coming in the spring or summer according to the AP.
