👍 Yes (43%) – "Even though I’ve paid off my loans, I can recognize the value in helping people make headway in a predatory system of money lending. For many people, college was touted as the “only” thing they they could do after high school if they wanted to be successful. While that isn’t true, it doesn’t change the fact that many young people were pressured into a predatory system and saddled with 10s of thousands of dollars in debt as they were about to start their adult life."

• "College tuition prices are incredibly cost-prohibitive, and loans are predatory to most 18 year olds who willingly take them out. Even more so if they are a first gen student and don't have an adult who can guide them through the process. I understand the frustration from those who already paid back their loans, but loan debt cancelled for some is better than loan debt cancelled for none."

👎 No (46%) – "I understand that student loans represent a significant amount of debt for many Americans; however, when taking out a loan, you agree to the terms and understand that you alone are responsible for paying it off in full. It is unfair to the many Americans who scrimped, saved, and sacrificed to pay off their own loans and to the Americans who decided against student loans because of the price tag."

• "Why doesn’t the government stop making/securing the loans? It’s very irresponsible to keep making the same kinds of loans they now feel like they should forgive. It also removes the consequences resulting from the decisions made by those accepting the loans. The excuse that there were no cheaper options is extremely hard to accept."
