👍 A good impact (29%) – "I think society as a whole is a stretch, but as far a social media goes, Twitter is the one that most people use for news. There is no denying that SM companies skew hard left. As a centrist, I’d like to see more balance. It’s disingenuous that SM companies pretend that they censor fairly and it’s incredibly disturbing that a SM company would have the kind of power to decide what we can and cannot see."

• "I think he will aim to restore free speech to the platform, which is the first principle (eg first amendment) that our country was established on. For generations, free speech has enabled the free exchange of ideas and the development of our uniquely successful society."
• "Under its current leadership, Twitter has been censoring people for doing nothing except having unpopular opinions. I believe that Musk will do a better job than the people currently in charge."

After realizing that backing out of the deal would have massive legal repercussions for him, Musk was forced to go through with the deal. The platform will likely become worse as Musk's conservative views encourage those on the extreme side of the political spectrum to return to the platform in the hopes that their previously banned major figures will be unbanned."
