👍 Yes (70%) – "Because marriage as defined by the "state" versus marriage that is defined by a "religious institution" are two separate things, even though they can be the same. From a state perspective, all Americans should have the same rights, protections, and responsibilities of government and citizenship whether they subscribe to a religion or not. As a gay man, if I choose to marry, I want the marriage legally recognized."

There may be claims that such a bill is unnecessary, but that was also a common comment when the concept of codifying abortion rights was discussed in the past."

Others religious beliefs should not be forced upon me and my religious beliefs should not be forced upon others. If you, as an individual, oppose same-sex marriage, then don’t marry someone your same sex. Simple as that."

👎 No (22%) – "The rights for interracial and same sex couples to marry is already enshrined in federal law. This new law removes vital protections for freedom of religion and speech and should never have passed."

• "It is not neccessary. It opens up discrimination against anyone religiously opposed to same sex marriage. The institution is meant for building a society that is based on family. Family is a man and a woman having children. No other way works naturally to populate the world. Others can be together if they want but it's not what marriage is about."
