Should Google be forced to sell some or all of its ad business?

👍 ​​Yes (34%) – "Google’s counter is a weak one. The market isn’t actually crowded. The companies that Google compete with are giants themselves and it’s much easier to cut out 4 or 5 competitors than it is 100. I would like to see the government step into similar suits against Amazon, Microsoft, and others in the ad business. We need more competition in the space."

👎 ​​No (39%) – "DOJ are missing the point. Yes, Google makes gobs of money. No, random legal action by a bunch of 60-year-old dudes completely out of touch with technology and the markets is not going to make a predictable impact. The market is already changing organically (see Google's decreasing market share as advertisers flock to TikTok to target Zoomers) because the world is changing - Google will either innovate to keep up or fall behind, and the DOJ will remain largely irrelevant."

I feel like it is a very lucrative industry as it stands, and if other businesses get into it there is a lot more opportunity for smaller businesses to make more money than they ever could before."

So it seems narrow-minded to focus solely on Google, rather than establish rules to govern how all these sorts of corporations earn profit.
