👍 Yes (46%) – "China has become extremely aggressive inserting itself in countries around the world, Beijing is determined to obtain Taiwan, and is willing to play chicken with the US knowing its citizens are war-weary."

• "China is becoming increasingly desperate to maintain its hold on the population. While Chinese citizens are generally afraid to speak out against the CCP, I think it'll just take the right crisis to shift their government from domestic tactics to international ones. For years they have painted the US as the enemy. That said, China won't start a war unless either: they feel confident they'll come out better than the US, or they think it's the only way to maintain control domestically."
• "Look at Russia invading Ukraine and the situation discussed with China and Taiwan, it's not a far stretch to think it will happen soon. I hope it doesn't come to it as so many lives will be lost, but I think it's likely and the US seems to be ready to jump in if that's the case."

• "You have to look at what China would “win” in a war with the US. There would be substantial human losses, the worldwide economies would be decimated, in the end they would be a weaker nation open to attacks from other democracies, it would take a decade or two to rebuild their economy and Xi Jinping would loose his position and power. So why would they engage in a war? The US would suffer the same so one can only hope we have a competent President at that time."
