How would Trump being indicted and arrested affect the 2024 election?

"Depending on the charges, he could be barred from the election and lose the right to vote. At the end of the day, he is a citizen of the US and should be treated the same as everyone else."

  • "It will hurt the Democrats--they need to focus on important issues such as the economy--Clinton had an affair in the Oval Office and never was indicted."

"It would continue to support that fact that our political system is a circus. I suspect that it would increase Trump's popularity."

  • "It will be pure, sensationalist chaos. I'm not one for conspiracy theories, but it's very obvious which types of circumstances lend themselves to those who live to create conspiratorial ideas. There is no doubt in my mind that if a trial takes place around election season, those who are predisposed to grasp at crazy ideas will yet again point to this as a conspiracy."

"If, for the Republican primary, those who are not Trump can align themselves around one alternative who is willing to challenge the established Democratic ideals with disregard for niceties, there is a chance that someone other than Trump will win the nomination regardless of Trump's indictment status. But if they Republicans who are not Trump, offer multiple legitimate choices to primary voters, Trump will succeed yet again."

“He’ll still run. He has a strong following, and similar allegations haven’t affected him in the past. Hopefully this time around people will vote for a better Republican candidate.”

  • “Unless Trump is physically unable to be elected for president, I think this will absolutely have a positive effect on whatever campaigning he decides to do for the 2024 election. Some people believe the justice system is being misused for political gain, and this is a prime example of what they're talking about.”

“It would make potential voters reconsider who would be on their ballot. It may split Republican votes, or it may pull in a candidate who is more centrist to garner votes from both sides of the aisle.”

  • “It will make it even more of a mess than the past few. I honestly don't know if our society can handle much more of this. Trump is awful, and I don't want him back, but it's time to stop with the theatrics.”
