Do you think that life for Gen Alpha will be better than it has been for you?

👍 Strongly agree (11%) – "The Alphas will live up to their name: learn from past generations' mistakes, course correct, and fight like hell. We've left them with such a social, political, cultural mess that they simply won't have time to feel sorry for themselves. They will be strong and they will succeed! They will be the next greatest generation."

📈 Agree/Somewhat agree (15%) – "I believe that each successive generation builds on each other. Though it may not seem clear now, the next generation will have something better that we don’t have now. They will have the answers to questions that we can only just grasp at the moment. I believe that the world will continue to develop and become a better place, we only need to have faith in the people who will be in it."

🤷 Neutral (18%) – "I think life for them will be different. Generation alpha is “behind” socially and academically due to Covid 19 shut downs. But they’re ahead technologically than previous generations. So, I think my idea of a “good life” is going to be vastly different than theirs."

📉 Disagree/Somewhat disagree (32%) – "As with every generation, I think the future will look "different," not definitively "worse." The political divide is worse than I've ever seen in my lifetime, the line between poor and wealthy is growing and the poor are growing poorer, and this country is having a hard time keeping freedoms in place (i.e., freedom of speech, intellectual freedom, etc.). Those things need to be addressed and will be - life is always cyclical - so there will always be work to be done."

  • "In general, I think society is not valuing the things required to build a better life. Adults are far too focused on their own gratification, and not spending enough time focusing on what the next generation needs. The foundation for a better future starts with delayed gratification, and teaching our children the skills necessary to reach their own goals. Unless more adults are willing to make these sacrifices, I don't expect the next generation will have as good a quality of life."
  • "I think there are a lot of problems that will fall onto them. Climate change, water shortage, economic downfall, and a general backwards movement in terms of equality (from things such as reversal of Roe v. Wade and "don't say gay"). On the flip side we don't know what the future holds, there may be technological or policy changes/advances that could help turn things around or at least mitigate the effect."

👎 Strongly disagree (24%) – "Though the variables change across all generations, medical advances, scientific and historical discoveries, etc., the essential struggles of life as a human on earth do not change or become easier. How do we identify and find purpose, meaning, fulfillment, contentment, peace, joy, love, and hope? These pursuits are not substantially aided or altered across generations."

  • "Our current mode of capitalism is unsustainable. Endless economic growth is not possible in a world with finite resources. That combined with climate change disasters and government corruption, things will only get worse and worse until the inevitable societal collapse."
