👍 Good idea (12%) – "Facial recognition, while not perfect, is more accurate than human eye witness accounts. I think the technology will become ubiquitous and more accurate. If it helps catch bad actors, I'm all for it."

📈 Mostly good idea (32%) – "Facial recognition technology shouldn't be the only tool used to backup evidence, but it's uniquely valuable. Similar to how other personally identifying evidence (such as DNA, fingerprints, and dental records) is gathered and used to solve crimes, facial recognition should be used within the limits of the legal system."

• "For many reasons, it certainly shouldn't be the sole evidence relied upon when moving to convict. But it will absolutely help, not only in solving crime, but also in preventing it. When the vast majority of people are aware of how powerful and efficient it is, it will serve as a psychological deterrent to some who are considering committing crimes."

📉 Mostly bad idea (18%) – "I think in theory there’s a lot of good that could come out of this type of technology. Unfortunately, I think the bad uses will win out. In the hands of the government/police will be used to surveil and oppress minority classes (people of color, lgbtqia+, political dissenters, etc.) more than it will be used for good."

👎 Bad idea (16%) – "We know that AI brings in the bias of the creators and the testing effort. Which often means that the software is racist, sexist, and all kinds of ists. Until we fix the bias in the software developer pipeline, we should be very very careful in this space."
