In your opinion, what rules should be in place regarding abortion?

👍 Legal anytime during pregnancy (34%) – "It’s nobody else’s business why someone is getting an abortion – it’s a huge decision between the pregnant person and their medical provider. We should not be using personal moral beliefs to dictate an entire legal code. I’d be willing to bet the abortions that are happening after 8+ weeks are primarily for medical reasons- imagine how traumatic it is to have a non-viable or fetus with a low life expectancy and being told to go home and wait for a miscarriage or death at birth."

• "Abortion is healthcare. Birthing parents are not choosing to get abortions because they simply want one - they are necessary for health and wellbeing. Abortion should always be accessible, no matter the time, the circumstances, or the political opposition."
• "I used to be completely pro-life. Then I had two devastating miscarriages including one at almost 20 weeks. Getting to know other women who had losses at various stages in their pregnancies including ones who chose late terminations or early inductions due to fatal fetal abnormalities made me realize that NO ONE outside of the woman herself should be making the decision of if or how long she should carry a pregnancy. A woman's reasons are between her and God, not her and the State."

📅 Legal up until 21-24 weeks (16%) – "There are many reasons for a woman to need or want an abortion. Lots of women have irregular periods and don't realize they're pregnant until after 8 weeks or more. A determined woman can manage to end a pregnancy but she might end her life as well. We need more access to reliable birth control and more options for help caring for children after they are born."

📅 Legal up until 15-20 weeks (10%) – "This is a fair amount of time for just about anyone to discover they are pregnant and make an informed and considered decision. After five months the baby begins to move and could conceivably survive if delivered, so to me personally, that's just too late to have regrets. However, if it is an issue of survival for the mother even after that point it should be up to her and her doctor."

📅 Legal up until 10-14 weeks (9%) – "I’m pro-choice, but I’m not pro-abortion. Most people know now that they are pregnant within two weeks of conception. There are ample opportunities for birth control, including the morning after pill. I think 12-14 weeks is completely reasonable, and I’m a female. Having an abortion after the time when a fetus is viable outside of the mother is unconscionable."

📅 Legal up until 6-9 weeks (5%) – "Being responsible for getting pregnant is tough. Getting an abortion and making a decision not to bring someone into this world is even more challenging. I think that’s a personal decision that, given 6 - 8 weeks… is dare I say “fair”. It’s a tough one."

📉 Legal only in exceptional circumstances (17%) – "I truly believe that life starts at conception, so I could never agree with people killing an innocent life. However, if the mother's life is endangered, there has been a miscarriage or in the case of rape/incest, I do see the need for abortion. I also believe that we should fund low to no cost pregnancy and postpartum centers over abortions and help fix the foster care system instead of just killing children."

👎 Illegal/never allowed (9%) – "When we forget that the fetus is a human, when we look at the fetus only from a utilitarian point of view, it's not that big of a step to start looking at everyone that way. It becomes way too easy to define someone's humanity according to a checklist."
