🔴 Republicans (48%) – "We don’t have much of any good data on the effect of transitioning through surgery or medication on the long term. Until that data is adequate, we need to be more conservative in our approach so we don’t destroy the lives of people that we’re trying to help."
🔵 Democrats (39%) – "While I do think there should be some regulations surrounding gender-affirming healthcare for teens (i.e., children/teenagers should be able to advocate for themselves and show that this is a decision that they have put serious thought into), I whole-heartedly believe that these regulations should not restrict healthcare but instead protect access to it. I don't think this is a decision that many young people would take lightly or do on a whim. It's been shown that denying gender-affirming care to young people is extremely detrimental, especially to their mental health. If we claim to care so deeply about the well-being of our young people, then we should absolutely continue to make all healthcare accessible to them."
🤷 Unsure/other (13%) – "The puberty meds are not only used for gender transformations. My granddaughter started puberty early, at about age 8. Started developing breasts and other things way too early. These meds are used for purposes like this also. Would hope they would not get totally banned."
