In your opinion, America’s current demographic trends will be ___ for the country.

👍 Very/somewhat good (31%) – "We talk about climate and AI everyday. I see less people as a net positive on both those fronts. I would also argue that it will be easier to govern a smaller population. We Americans may seem divided on many things but we adapt better than almost any society to ever exist. This may just be an adaptation to the challenges we are facing today."

  • "When I was born, the global population was about 4B. Today it is over 8B. The planet cannot sustain this overpopulation. I strongly support fewer births, sincle less people means less pollution of all kinds, less stress, less usage of natural resources, etc."

👎 Very/somewhat bad (40%) – "I don’t see birth rate going up anytime soon, which will result in financial stress for everyone. Especially with taxes going up already to pay for the growing majority of people benefiting from social security. Unless those programs are taken down, citizens will have to pay more and more along with rising costs of everything else."

  • "People are America’s best asset and we need to keep growing to add new ideas and talents to that asset pool. Tax incentives for families might work, but immigration has always been America’s best growth strategy."
  • "We need more people to support taxes and social security. How bad it gets depends on how many people immigrate into the US, filling the void left by a death rate that becomes higher than the birth rate."

↔️ Neither good nor bad (29%) – "I think it will be a net positive overall but only if policy stops favoring the older generations and starts prioritizing younger generations. The lack of any positive family policies in this country should be alarming to anyone concerned about this. From childcare to housing, food and medical access especially to communities in rural and urban areas. We need help and unfortunately our government isn't doing anything substantial to help."

  • "The X-factors will be retirement age (does it push back?) and immigration policy (can we keep attracting and retaining global talent?). If both happen, the outlook for the US is good, regardless of birth rates."
