Do you agree with House Speaker McCarthy’s decision to cut $6 billion in Ukrainian aid from the stopgap government funding bill?

👍 Yes (50%) – "We need to put our veterans, homeless and mentally impaired Americans first, and every other country we support financially second."

  • "There's no funding for Ukraine if the government shuts down. Funding the government has to come first, paying the thousands of federal workers in the US comes first, Ukraine support is important, but if the other things aren't happening, Ukraine support is not the pressing priority."

"The US has enough problems to worry about right now than to try and fix another country's problems. When we are in better position we can aid Ukraine, but I dont think now is the time."

  • "In what universe does it make sense to send $6 billion in aid to another country when our own citizens are feeling the impact of every dollar spent when they go to the grocery store or pay their medical bills or write a check for their kids' childcare? A staggering amount of American citizens fall above the poverty line and are ineligible for federal aid, even making a 'decent' wage on paper, but struggle to make ends meet month to month. Until we're able to give aid to our own citizens, we shouldn't be giving it to others."

👎 No (38%) – "We cannot afford to stick our heads in the sand and pretend that what happens elsewhere in the world has nothing to do with us. We tried it before with disastrous results. This is a global problem and the time to stop it is now. Anyone who believes Putin will stop with Ukraine is indulging in the worst kind of wishful thinking."

  • "We made a commitment to support Ukraine against its bully. This commitment must be supported. If it is not, Russia will continue to bully its way into Europe."

"America's foreign policies contributed to the instability in the region that led to Russia invading Ukraine. While the U.S. is not responsible for Russia's actions, it is the most powerful global actor and its actions are not without consequences. The U.S. has a moral responsibility to aide those who are having to live those consequences."

🤷 Unsure/other (12%) – "I agree that he needed to take it out of the bill to get it passed, but I don't agree with Republicans who don't want to help Ukrainians defend themselves against Putin."
