Should former President Trump be disqualified from the 2024 presidential election due to the 14th Amendment?

👍 Yes (61%) – "He chose to spread disinformation about the U.S. elections, causing a full-on violent insurrection and now he wants to pretend that all is well? There is no way someone should be allowed back after using those tactics."

  • "No one is above the law. The President should be held to the highest standards and be above reproach. Trump is not and has never been. He started and engaged in insurrection plain and simple. To this day he still fans the flames."

"The answer is clearly yes. The only reason to consider a no vote is fear of the retribution from Trump and his followers. Our society only functions if the rules apply to everyone. This is a time that calls for courage. We simply must do what is right. He does not meet the qualifications to be in office. And frankly, there are 100s of people who also are not qualified because of their active part in the insurrection who should also held accountable."

  • "He has encouraged his followers to turn away from both the constitution and the judiciary. He has also fomented a very divisive zeitgeist in thie country. I am happy with a reasonable disagreement about how we might best accomplish something, but our current politics have a civil war feel to them. Not real American, and Trump has been overtly opposed to majority rule."

"Trump committed crimes against the US democracy. His acts of insurrection should not be overlooked or rewarded. He is basically too volatile, dishonest and dangerous to trust again in any position of power."

👎 No (30%) – "No court has convicted him on that. On the contrary, the Senate held impeachment hearings over this and couldn't convict him. So he's already been tried and found NOT guilty."

  • "I really really didn't want to vote no, however he has not been convicted of insurrectionism (yet) and we must be true to the law. I don't want him on the ballots, I don't want him in the political environment - but it has to be done the correct way."

"As much as the left wants it to be true, Trump did not call for people to riot or insurrection. The video evidence is clear. And until he is on trial for such a crime, there is no basis to remove him from ballots. I don't like the guy either, but this needs to end. Our government continues to waste time and resources on a man they are afraid of who has been no serious threat to anyone--they simply can't control him, and they need their presidential puppets. It's frustrating and illogical."

🤷 Unsure/other (9%) – "If the law says insurrectionists should be disqualified, then yes. But I’m not convinced Trump committed an insurrectionist act. I personally prefer other Republican candidates such as DeSantis or Haley and I would much rather Trump does not run; I’m personally quite excited at the prospect of either of the other candidates."
