🔵 The Senate bill (31%) – "We have many conflicting priorities, but the fact is that we need to support our allies abroad or the world order destabilizes. And yeah, it's not perfect, but I'd rather us have a significant and powerful voice in the world than China or Russia take our place. If you've never encountered an autocratic regime: they're no joke. And I don't think people realize exactly how overwhelmed the southern border is, so the more money that makes it down there? The better. Patrol Agents and CBP need all the help they can get."
"Foreign aid is crucial to making a statement that the US stands behind universal democracy. The immigration on our western border is a huge issue that has been ignored and/or mishandled for far too long."
🔴 The House bill (14%) – "The money the senate in asking for doesn't stop illegal immigration. It just speeds up the pace that illegals can stay her legally. It would still let in almost 2 million illegal aliens a year. Our country is already having issues dealing with illegals. It is costing us 100's of millions of $ to house them."
🇺🇸 Funding for immigration, but not foreign aid (21%) – "I’m done with giving so much money to foreign countries. We’ve got a massive crisis in our own. Our community has become saturated with immigrants. I’m not against immigration! But the unchecked volume of people flooding the country is really affecting our resources. The states (Texas, NY) seem to be the only ones who understand this. Our federal government has been far too cavalier, even encouraging people to come. Controlled, systematic immigration is fine. This is not ok."
🌍 Funding for some or all foreign aid, but not immigration (11%) – "By all means, Ukraine deserves all the help it can get. I would prefer the rest of the money though, to go towards funding national public schools, scientific research and public services, libraries, hospitals. National issues that have had their funding cut time and time again. The US people suffer, while the GOP is more worried about giving weapons to Isreal. If they want to send money that way, I'd like it to be towards Gaza and the charities. Towards calling for a ceasefire and condemning Israel's war crimes."
🙅 No funding at all (13%) – "The US Government cannot keep spending money we don't have. All they are doing is printing more money to cover their out-of-control spending which is not only putting America in more debt but s also causing inflation. If any American citizen were to do what the American government is doing now, they would be in jail."
🗣️ Other (10%) – "I want foreign aid but not in the way the government wants it. I want money to go towards Palestinians suffering through a genocide right now. They don’t have consistent access to food, clean water, and shelter. I want a ceasefire, and I want it now. But of course, the government will only support what lines their pockets."
