👍 Yes (60%) – "Our voting system is outdated. We needed a system better at representing the voting population. Voting third party enough to alter the outcome of the election would be a start to consider something like a ranked choice voting system."
"America is a land of vast diversity. We have got to be able to do better than two old white men. One of whom is quite polarizing; the other seems not quite up to the task, at times. Younger, fresher, more moderate, and not so entrenched in the political system - that's a ticket I'd be more interested in voting for."
"Love the idea of a candidate from each party for President and VP, but they have to work together -- not like the old days where the VP got no respect. We need a candidate who will protect our sovereignty, uphold our Constitution to the letter, defend our country, reduce our deficit and not continue to borrow us into bankruptcy, and return us to a solid foundation upon which to grow. Both sides miss on multiple points so I welcome a brave candidate who is willing to bring the US together and set aside party dogma for the betterment of the US."
👎 No (26%) – "The problem is our first past the post voting system. I'd be happy for third party candidates if we had ranked choice voting or some other alternative but as it stands third party candidates just cannibalize votes from whichever candidate is most similar to them. If you're right leaning and you you vote for a right leaning third party candidate you paradoxically help to guarantee a win for the left leaning candidate."
"We have a two party system so that we are most likely to achieve a majority. Adding a 3rd candidate very likely will create a situation where the candidate with the most votes does not earn a majority ... and then the decision about who are President will be is taken away from us the people and gets decided by the House of Representatives instead. Nightmare. BTW I agree that both parties are flawed and I am not excited about the 2020 rematch, but putting this decision in the hands of the HOR would be far, far worse. (See Election of 1824.)"
🤷 Unsure/other (14%) – "I have lived in other countries that had more than a 2-party system and believe it is better. A 2-party system ends up making each party extreme, having a third party allows for moderates of each party. However, it’s too late to be introducing this now, it should have happened long before Super a Tuesday to help a No Labels candidate gain momentum. Btw, I did vote for Ross Perot back in the day."
