In your opinion, is Apple harming consumers with its walled garden model?

👍 Yes (46%) – "It's a free market version of a honey-pot. If you don't keep buying their stuff, you'll lose money in the functionality of Apple products, but consumers will spend more money to buy their products anyhow regardless of performance and functionality."

  • "Apple requires the apple watch to be paired with the iphone rather than capable to be paired with an Android as well. There are many things that apple does that is harmful to consumers."

"I have younger relatives who said that kids will not be included in group texts if they do not have an iPhone due to the green text bubble. Apple's desire to create an in-group also creates an out-group that carries real negative consequences."

  • "Apple's walled garden keeps me away from Apple products. High quality but very high prices and less flexibility."

👎 No (34%) – "Apple takes a more deliberate approach to security and some users choose Apple for that very reason. They are willing to give up some broader benefits of a fully open ecosystem to enjoy the benefits of more robust and dependable security."

  • "I have never felt harmed by Apple. If I did feel harmed, I would stop buying their products and buy the many alternatives out there, which I prefer much less. I absolutely refuse to buy a Google product, which is a much greater harm to me due to the privacy risks. The government just needs to stay out of my life."

"All of this suit’s cited explanations, shown above, appear to be a reaching attempt to harm the Apple business model. Sometimes the government looks out for the consumer and sometimes, like in this case imo, it is weaponized through lobbying by a companies competitors. Apple is a dominant American company that is predominantly ran by Americans. I have been in the Apple ecosystem for years and it’s one of the few companies we have left in America that I believe truly looks out for my best interests. Sometimes companies are evil and grow due to greed and sometimes they are just good companies."

🤷 Unsure/other (20%) – "Normally igovernment anti trust involvement makes the service worse for US consumers as a whole. You only have to look at history for numerous examples."
