How do you feel about the lawsuit before SCOTUS seeking to reverse the FDA’s approval of mifepristone?

👍 Strongly agree (16%) – "I think there is something other than abortion at stake here -- it is states rights. When a federal agency makes available a substance for use that violates the laws of some states and then makes that substance deliverable to those states, does that violate a state's ability to govern? Beyond that, the FDA should have solid, published studies that the substance is safe to use. This isn't aspirin. This is a substance, that if wrong, could kill the mother. Who is observing the administration of the substance? These seem like a half baked program to provide a much needed service while usurping states rights."

📈 Agree/Somewhat agree (9%) – "A medical procedure should be overseen and monitored by a physician. There are potentially serious repercussions and health risks."

↔️ Neutral (10%) – "I’m married and I am trying to have a kid so I don’t really have a dog in the fight. However, I do not see any reason to ban the drug (or even hear the case) based on the information given here."

📉 Disagree/Somewhat disagree (12%) – "I believe women’s health care decisions should be dictated by the individual and their doctor, not a bunch of politicians or judges without medical experience or the details of individual medical conditions."

👎 Strongly disagree (53%) – "It's important that patients are fully informed for the risks of any medication. As long as they are properly counselled and prescribed, women should have full access to abortion medications."

  • "I don’t think many people know this. Especially those who have never been through infertility. There are times when a pregnancy is not viable, the cells stop growing and dividing, and the body will eventually miscarry. Drugs like mifepristone are used to induce miscarriage, and aid in making a complete miscarriage reducing the risk of needing a D&C. In states where abortion is outlawed people who are carrying unviable pregnancies cannot get the appropriate medication and treatment and are forced to take half the medications needed to induce a miscarriage, which increases the risk of infection and the need for D&C. I understand the pro life’s stance, but they are forgetting about all the other people they are affecting. To be pro life you need to be pro all life. The mothers the child’s etc."

"This is truly ridiculous. This drug is used not just for abortion. It’s also used for managing Cushing's syndrome and uterine leiomyomas. If you don’t want to use it, don’t! Hands off on other people’s medical decisions and treatments."

  • "The attack on women's reproductive health continues to get scarier. At what point does a group look at the side effects of hormonal birth control and try to get that banned as well? Taking away abortion access doesn't end abortions - it makes them unsafe."

"Lawsuits need to be based in reality, not hypotheticals. The FDA has mountains of proof about safety of the drug, the folks who want to cancel the FDA's approval have opinions -- that's not a legit reason for something to go in front of the SCOTUS. It should have been thrown out long before reaching SCOTUS."
