In general, how confident are you in the security and accuracy of US federal elections?

Very confident (38%) – "This is run by people who take their civic duty seriously. HOWEVER, I am concerned moving forward because the losers and election deniers are taking steps to "fix" the elections in the future. There needs to be greater oversight, with bipartisan + independent input."

  • "I've been a Republican election judge for nearly a dozen elections and am WELL aware of the unlikelihood of inaccuracy except in the case of hand counts at the lowest (usually precinct) level -- both the standard procedures and the machines are VERY good. And in those rare instances, by the way, the specific cause of inaccuracy is usually transparently obvious."

"There are easier and mostly legal ways for foreign powers to mess with our elections than by directly manipulating results, and we have direct evidence that they do just that. Social media makes it stupidly easy to manipulate us. No reason to think they’re risking larger consequences by directly hacking voting systems."

  • "There are a number of rules and safeguards in place around the country to keep the voting legitimate. I believe in the system."

Somewhat confident (17%) – "I don’t think the people who are counting are trying to do anything unethical and the rules in place are good. I still think somethings may slip through though. It is good to hear they get rid of people with change of residency. It seems like I could’ve voted in MI after I moved away."

  • "There are current nominees who are planting seeds of election day fraud and the more it is said over and over, no matter the outcome, people are going to feel put off by the results due to hearing about 'interference.'"

Neutral (11%) – "You can never be positively sure that your vote is being counted. Especially since some people that are in our government try to twist things in their favor. But I like to think that hopefully that doesn't happen."

Somewhat unsure (20%) – "I've participated in the voting polls and saw the great care and integrity of those who vote in person and the absentee ballot process. Yet, the increased use of electronic machines that count and tally, especially those which are connected to the internet, is unnerving when we consider the importance of voting. More concerning is the lack of control of ballots when they leave the control of officials - such as we see with mail in ballots. The chain of custody and the identity of the voter is based solely on trust. That's where it breaks down."

  • "In the past elections, I have filled out absentee ballots. Sometimes I receive two of them. I only would fill out one of them because I'm honest. How many others get multiple absentee ballots and fill them all out?"

Very unsure (14%) – "There is no question that voter registration and voting has been compromised by illegal immigrants and mail in voting. Both lead to mass amounts of voter fraud. The integrity in our elections has been lost and can no longer be trusted."

  • "I’ve heard there are some states that use electronic systems without paper ballot backup. Those could be manipulated by unscrupulous people. All voting systems should have a paper ballot. If there are issues, some people might notice and be able to challenge the results."
