What best describes your personal opinion regarding the current Israel-Hamas war?

Israel’s military operation is going too far (46%) – "From what I've read, I'm feeling like Netanyahu doesn't want any realistic cease fire leading to any serious negotiations to end this war. It appears to be a scorched earth policy where civilians are being killed indiscriminately with no relief for the innocents there. This will inevitably create more terrorists."

• "Destroying a whole country and killing thousands of people to kill a handful of Hamas leaders is not justifiable. There has to be some other way to destroy them. It will take years to rebuild and people will suffer in the meantime."

"They have ended an incalculable amount of innocent lives. Israel's behavior has been beyond unacceptable."

• "No country has the "right" to exist. All are established through force and power. The people of Palestine have lived for 76 years under a military occupation and apartheid. It is unconscionable what has happened to these people at the hands of Zionists whose sole mission is to establish Greater Israel and have the United States pay for it. No one stood up and so they have expanded to attacking Lebanon, engaging with Iran, all out of American taxpayers' pockets. Meanwhile, we have hungry children, homeless people, women dying because they can't get healthcare, and an entire community of people devastated by Hurricane Helene. Stop funding Israel's war!"

Israel’s military operation is taking about the right approach (24%) – "Though I am not an advocate of war, I do think Israel is doing what any country would do in the wake of an unprovoked attack on their soil. If there are no repercussions for an attack like that, then Hamas will become emboldened to commit more similar atrocities."

• "This seems to be a very difficult situation for Israel’s military. One the one hand, it’s responsible for the protection of it citizens and is fully justified after being attacked, but how do you fight an enemy in an extremely populated region who is willing to use their own people as human shields? It’s a situation of desperation and terrible mistakes are going to be made until this war ends. It needs to end."

"No easy answer. On the one hand, Israel’s self preservation requires taking out the missile and drone infrastructure of its adversaries. On the other hand, every casualty inflicted by the IDF doubtless fuels more hatred which fosters yet another generation of anti-Israel terrorism. Worse, Netanyahu and his extremist coalition are not built to seek a cease fire whose terms lay the foundation for a long term two state solution. In sum, we have a recipe for a continued impasse, a continued loss of life and no prospects for a peaceful resolution.

The US doesn’t know what it’s like to be in a war for hundreds of years so who are we to judge how they respond? I also believe a ceasefire will only prolong the conflict, and tactically, it’s better to be on offense than defense to preserve lives in Israel."

• "Israel was attacked without provocation, the attack focused on non-combatants and included disgustingly violent attacks on women and children. If another country attacked America in the same way I think our reaction would involve a much more severe retaliation but yet Israel is condemned on all sides. The entire Palestinian settlement needs to be eliminated, the tunnels should be flooded and Hamas should be destroyed completely. Anyone who doesn't think we’re next on their list is foolish and misguided."
