What’s your take on how the 2024 presidential election played out?

"In 2016, I was floored that Trump had won the presidency. This year, I wasn't surprised at all. There are key issues facing our country that people on both sides of the aisle clearly expressed their opinions on - at the end of the day, Trump made Americans feel heard and Kamala didn't. Regardless, what has disappointed me most is the vitriol and hate spiraling around these results. Republicans voted the way Republicans vote, but I feel like some Democrats didn't have a space to express a dissenting opinion or talk through things with other Democrats without being ostracized, and that showed up in the polls. You can't encourage people to have opinions and then get mad at them for having one based on their experiences or hopes for the future. We all have different things that are important to us - respect one another and speak about your experience in kindness."

  • "It made me realize that apparently I understand nothing about the rest of this country, because I cannot see how anything that Trump has said or done represents how I feel a leader should act and what I want the world to see America as. I don't see how those voters don't see that the tariff plans, Project 2025, and Musk's hope to cut 2 trillion out of the federal government will make life so much harder and expensive for all of us."

"It is the best outcome for our country; Harris was a disaster as a VP and spinning her as anything but is gaslighting America. Thank God for Donald Trump - four years to undo the damage of the Biden administration - I finally feel the hopelessness fading. America is back!"

  • "As an independent voter with multiple higher education degrees, I’m not supposed to vote for Trump, or at least people love to tell the world that people who vote for Trump are stupid, racist, and misogynistic. And yet I did vote for Trump. And everyone in my suburban, educated family voted for Trump. We need to be a strong leader in the world. We need someone who understands how to improve the economy, and we need to stop making increasingly nonsensical decisions for a very, very small portion of the society. We want the borders to be secure-yet permit legal immigration. We want the economy to boom again. We want to be able to afford homes and groceries. And most of all, we want the completely biased media to allow fair coverage, and we don’t want any more ridiculous lawsuits (yes, we know they’re frivolous). Back off and let the man who WE elected do his job."

"I believe this election proved a few things about what American citizens really want in a leader. American's seem to no longer trust the corporate media, nor its portrayal of the presidential candidates. They feel they can better learn about a candidate through long-form discussion, and make their own judgement about that person. Trump did a far better job of this, and as a result, was able to reach a larger crowd and dynamic. I also believe the Republican Party won on the fact that they were willing to diversify their staff with not just former democrats, but non-politicians who showed they just want to help the American people. With that, the democratic party seemed to focus more so on demonizing Trump and his staff, rather than speaking to any sort of policy or changes that Americans are asking for. I believe this presidential election has changed the landscape for future elections for the better, as candidates will now have to show their true selves by way of long-form discussion, (without edits) and allow the American voters to judge their qualities from a much more quality perspective."

  • "It is extremely sad that people who voted for Trump think that he will be able to do anything about inflation. He was the one to stop any progress being made to the border issue just so he could run on that in his campaign."

"Its disappointing that the public did not consider character in their choice between Trump and Harris. Who would you prefer to work with at your company, or represent you as a country. Trump's policies are a wish list of actions that he will not accomplish. They just appealed to the publics fantasy of how they think government should work. I'm still waiting for Mexico to pay for the wall."
