👍 Yes (36%) – "Driving in a crowded city that has ample public transportation is wasteful and should not be as easy as it has been in the past. London has successfully used congestion pricing for many years, and it’s time we get on board before we get into an even worse situation because nobody wants to make a change."
"Problems are only solved if something changes. Unfortunately, but realistically changes that “hurt” our finances usually are the most effective. This painful change could generate a lot of positive results; money for infrastructure changes, people reducing unnecessary driving…if this is the best solution offered then, it makes sense to at least try it and see what people can learn from the experiment."
👎 No (43%) – "Pricing plan is not the solution. Construct large parking lots around the perimeter of that area and provide shuttle bus transportation from those parking lots into the area. In other words, shut those areas down to POVs, leaving it open only to emergency response and delivery vehicles and the shuttle buses."
"It has the propensity to hurt commuters as well as tourists and punishes people for driving and hurt poor families. The New York transit system is occupied by vagrants and the criminal elements."
🤷 Unsure/other (21%) – "I'm unsure if this policy will effectively address what it has proposed to do, but shifting travels methods towards more mass transit can only be good for infrastructure and environmental concerns."
