Approve (41%) – "These suits should never have been filed. It's all weaponizing the justice system for political gain. I don't believe any of them are legitimate cases, hence the dismissals. It's easy for Smith to say they "could have won" knowing that it's not going to trial. Every other case has been dismissed, save the civil trial, which should have been dismissed, in my opinion. It's all smoke and mirrors."
"I think corruption was at the heart of the previous judgment. For eight years they fought to undermine Trump while he was in office and after he left office. When you have a state spending money (50 million) to Trump proof their actions … they still haven’t learned. It was to protect their own asses not to criminalize Trump."
Disapprove (45%) – "I approve of the legal prosecutions except for the fact that no actual consequence has been dispensed. 34 felony account convictions and all he gets is his record will reflect them? What is that if not rich, white man privilege. Even Martha Stewart went to jail though not Trump. And now, he cannot be prosecuted once he is back in the President's seat. So, I approve of all the criminal investigations, the prosecutions and the convictions -- I simply do not approve of the lack of consequences and the fact that we now have a convicted felon becoming President."
"Politicians should be held to the same standards as the general public. I am a public employee and held to state ethics requirements and always under intense public scrutiny. If I did a fraction of what Trump and his cronies have done, I would be fined and jailed."
No strong opinion (8%) – "Two things can be true at once: that Trump is a pretty scummy person and that people are unfairly hunting him down. Whether or not either/both of those things are true in the specific claims being made by Smith is honestly hard for me to feel confident in because of how crazy our world of politics are. "The first person to speak sounds right, until another person challenges him" - at least for me, who hasn't tracked this story closely, I haven't yet seen a clear comparison of the two arguments and the evidence to come to a clear/strong opinion."
Unsure/other (6%) – "I'm frustrated that this wasn't announced or published ahead of the election. It feels like pointless news at this point. To publish these findings now is to rub in the fact that we're stuck with a felon president who has no respect for democracy or US citizens."
