In general, how do you feel about the results of the recent legal prosecution of President-elect Trump?

Approve (41%) – "These suits should never have been filed. It's all weaponizing the justice system for political gain. I don't believe any of them are legitimate cases, hence the dismissals. It's easy for Smith to say they "could have won" knowing that it's not going to trial. Every other case has been dismissed, save the civil trial, which should have been dismissed, in my opinion. It's all smoke and mirrors."

  • "More and more these results prove that these are clearly politically motivated. Even when faced with an unfavorable outcome towards the President (guilty charge in NYC hush money case), the court is unable to provide a punishment due to the thin standing of the merits of the case and outcome."

"I think corruption was at the heart of the previous judgment. For eight years they fought to undermine Trump while he was in office and after he left office. When you have a state spending money (50 million) to Trump proof their actions … they still haven’t learned. It was to protect their own asses not to criminalize Trump."

  • "My opinion is Trump was the victim of hate from the Democrats and Joe Biden is so crooked he endorsed it all.....I don't care what anyone says, Trump was victimized by our judicial system which is a joke in and of itself."

Disapprove (45%) – "I approve of the legal prosecutions except for the fact that no actual consequence has been dispensed. 34 felony account convictions and all he gets is his record will reflect them? What is that if not rich, white man privilege. Even Martha Stewart went to jail though not Trump. And now, he cannot be prosecuted once he is back in the President's seat. So, I approve of all the criminal investigations, the prosecutions and the convictions -- I simply do not approve of the lack of consequences and the fact that we now have a convicted felon becoming President."

  • "Trump should have been prosecuted. Jan 6 events were an embarassment USA. No one should be above the law. Would we have treated John/Jane Doe the same?"

"Politicians should be held to the same standards as the general public. I am a public employee and held to state ethics requirements and always under intense public scrutiny. If I did a fraction of what Trump and his cronies have done, I would be fined and jailed."

  • "Trump has committed several crimes for which any other person would have been severely sentenced, but because he has a lot of rich friends in high places, he's basically received a slap on the wrist. Every other felon in this country is ineligible for any government position and he's about to be sworn in to the highest office in the land. It's a mockery of our justice system."

No strong opinion (8%) – "Two things can be true at once: that Trump is a pretty scummy person and that people are unfairly hunting him down. Whether or not either/both of those things are true in the specific claims being made by Smith is honestly hard for me to feel confident in because of how crazy our world of politics are. "The first person to speak sounds right, until another person challenges him" - at least for me, who hasn't tracked this story closely, I haven't yet seen a clear comparison of the two arguments and the evidence to come to a clear/strong opinion."

Unsure/other (6%) – "I'm frustrated that this wasn't announced or published ahead of the election. It feels like pointless news at this point. To publish these findings now is to rub in the fact that we're stuck with a felon president who has no respect for democracy or US citizens."
