In general, how do you feel about DOGE’s cost-cutting efforts across the federal government thus far?

👍 Support (41%) – "How can anyone say what they are doing is wrong. You should be thanking them for their efforts to expose all the waste and fraud using YOUR tax dollars. Use the savings to support the elderly or provide support to actually educate children. DO GOOD with the money and not give it away for some senseless cause. I hope they really dive into the fraud and find out the whole thing has been a laundering scheme to fund extravagant lifestyles for politicians."

  • "There is way too much bloat in the government in two major ways: 1) A great many departments have 25% more employees than necessary, and 2) each upcoming year's department budgets are determined by how much funding they received for the present year multiplied by 1.1 to 1.25, not by looking at the actual money spent in the present year."

"A lot of people are worried that their participation at the expense of taxpayers will be revealed. What the public has suspected is now being brought to light. DOGE is long overdue. Ideologues spending our money in irresponsible ways has to stop."

  • "One must streamline business to stay productive and competitive. And, one must embrace change to say ahead of everybody else. Can't move forward through the digital age with archaic systems and concepts."

"DOGE's progress is absolutely amazing. As an independent voter who has never voted for a major party in a presidential election prior to this election, the promise of reducing government spending and the federal bureaucacy is exactly what swung my vote to Trump. I am thrilled to see the administration making good on their promises."

👎 Oppose (51%) – "While I have no doubt there is government waste, Elon Musk and his flunkies are not qualified to be making such important decisions. This is presidential overreach and punitive behavior toward anyone who opposed Trump. We are in dangerous territory."

  • "It would be different if the American people were privy to the DOGE plan before Trump was elected, so we could make a well-informed decision when voting. It would be different if Elon Musk were an elected government official. But we weren’t, and he isn’t. It’s like they’re laughing at us. “DOGE”, I mean, come on. And no one, so far, has done anything that will ultimately stop them. They’re laughing because they think they’re invincible. I suppose having grotesque amounts of money will do that to a person."

"I'll keep it simple. Does the government need to cut spending? Yes. Is DOGE going about it in anything close to the right way? Hell No. We need better decisions made by qualified people who are trustworthy and not just for political reasons like revenge."

  • "I feel they are cutting programs without investigating what the program does and how vital it may be. They are just randomly cutting programs. Too many people are being negatively impacted by blind, random slashing."

"Not an official department, no screening, security checks of college age employees. Too much conflict of interest with Musk, government contracts and government investigations. No oversight of what's going on, installing new codes? Shouldn't be able to access such sensitive information and payment info. Hasn't really found actual faud, etc, just giving generalizations of what might be. Musk also stated he's made mistakes and put out false information. Big no from me and my family."

🤷 Unsure/other (8%) – "I agree there are probably inefficiencies that need to be addressed and appreciate it's something being considered but in my opinion the approach is 100% the incorrect way to handle it. The government's job is to care for its people and the tear down approach will likely leave the most vulnerable without assistance that they need. I also feel having someone who has millions of money in contracts with the government as a conflict of interest and should either not be in charge of this process or withdraw every single contract while he is in charge of this work."
