Do you personally consider unauthorized immigration to be: a crisis, fairly significant problem, minor problem, or not a problem for the US?

Crisis (29%) – "The drain on public resources is insane. The competition for jobs and the tax evasion that results from under the table deals isn't helping our country either. For those worried about federal job cuts, here is one occupation that looks like it needs to grow."

  • "It's a crisis when our country has not only allowed non-citizens to break the law by entering our country illegally, but those in government have encouraged it! I understand the moral and ethical dilemma that some of these people are escaping horrific circumstances and we want to help them, but in the same vein, would we not punish a bank robber to the fullest extent of the law, regardless of whether he was trying to provide for his kids? I consider this a crisis because there are legal ways to gain entry into our country and many people, including those responsible for setting and enforcing the laws, have been ignoring them. I'm thankful for the stricter attention to this problem over the past 60 days."

"Illegal immigration not only discourages those who are legally attempting to enter the US, but directly increases crimes such as human trafficking and drug smuggling. Its time to enforce our borders better, as most other major countries do"

Fairly significant problem (27%) – "I’m all for immigrants coming into this country and then becoming legal residents and controlling the influx to manageable numbers. I strongly believe if the Biden administration had controlled the influx of immigrants from the beginning and not allowed what amounted to be a free for all, he would have been re-elected for another 4-year term. I don’t understand why they seemingly allowed an unlimited migration into this country. It needs to be controlled in a logical and humanitarian manner. I’m hoping the Trump administration realizes the humanitarian piece."

  • "We need to fix our immigration system, but our country depends on migrants and needs to allow for immigration. Americans aren't losing jobs to immigrants, they're losing jobs to corporate greed."

"Our country relies on Hispanic people to harvest fruit to a great extent. They also do a lot of labor jobs like building homes. They rarely join a union so they do it for lower pay and have an amazing work ethic."

Minor problem (32%) – "I just do not think that most of the people who are here illegally are bad people -- instead they are looking for a better life. That's how this country was founded. I think we have so many illegal immigrants here because our system for helping them achieve legal status is seriously flawed and bogged down. I just don't get why all illegal immigrants are being targeted when it is a small minority -- aided by American citizens -- that are a bad element and bringing in drugs."

  • "Most of the migrants are looking for a better way of life, or fleeing dangerous conditions in their country. Isn't that why our ancestors came here? Also your sugar cane pickers, orange grove workers, most farm laborers are migrants. They pay taxes for their below minimum wages they receive. They also are a large portion of construction and hotel workers. They are doing the jobs that others don't want to do."

"Two reasons: 1) In my experience, immigrants are hard working and contribute to society in a positive way; and 2) I have compassion for those who fear for their lives and are seeking a good life for their families. I think compassion should always win out."

Not a problem (12%) – "There are "illegal" immigrants seek the a life of freedoms that America offers. They are caught up in the stagnant and convoluted paper process of the system. They pay taxes and they have a lot of services unavailable to them until they get through that process. I also feel the current administration numbers are bloated as they are grabbing everyone (legal ot not) and counting them."
