👍 Yes (29%) – "Its all part of putting America first again. Removing protesters who potentially bring harm or stir up harm to American citizens is one of the first steps. Free speech does not mean you can abuse who or what ever you feel the need to speak about. Hate has no place in our country."
"First, this is our country, and he is a guest here. He was fomenting antisemitic anger and physical harm against Jews both here at home and abroad. This is the kind of action that eventually led to the holocaust, and cannot be tolerated or protected under the principle of free speech. It must have limitations, such as crying out "Fire" in a crowded movie theater, which can obviously lead to injury to others. Clearly this man's actions were detrimental and counter to everything we as free Americans stand for, especially in the wake of the delusional, barbaric and deadly October 7th attacks on Israel. I support his deportation, and the deportation of anyone else who took similar action. The world must be reminded we stand united with Israel against anyone with genocidal intent against them. And we should not tolerate any movement on our precious American soil that would support any such action. To do so would betray those whose lives were given that we might enjoy the freedoms we believe all men should have."
👎 No (62%) – "Unless there is proof he committed a crime and he is formally charged, then this starts the very steep and slippery slope to the government arresting anyone who disagrees with them, which puts the country on the dangerous path to an authoritarian state."
"It is clearly illegal to arrest and deport anyone just because you disagree with their political opinion. Khalil did not break any laws. The administration has not found any "terrorist activities" and though antisemitism is an ugly thing, Trump banning that does not necessarily make it illegal. But even if it did, those acts were before Trump was president, and you can't be arrested for doing something before it is illegal. Trump talks a big game about freedom of speech, but he only means you are free to speak your opinion if you are agreeing with his views."
"Silencing those that we do not agree with is the start of a very slippery slope that sounds eerily familiar to scenes from the past that we don’t want to play out. This country has seen student activists since the 1920s. No other president has felt threatened enough to silence them, let alone to deport them. Part of what makes America great is the free speech that we are all allowed to have …. Makes me wonder what the true agenda with all of this noise actually is."
🤷 Unsure/other (9%) – "Since I don't know the whole story and what exactly he did, then I shouldn't give a definite answer. Did he incite others in a clash with authorities? Did he engage in violence against others? Did he ignore orders from law enforcement? If he did, was he arrested then? I don't know about deportation at this point, but he, and anyone else that partakes in protests that result in violence, need to be arrested at that point and should be watched closer in the future."
